The Lagoon

These kids taught me more about entrepreneurship than any other experience in life.

When I arrived, a few of the boys immediately swooped in to hold my bag and offer to take pictures. I knew they wanted money but that was not their energy at all.

They were excited, having fun, and genuinely wanting to help.

The boy taking pictures and videos was maybe 7 or 8 but was treating it like a professional photoshoot- climbing fences, instructing me how to pose, telling me I look beautiful, hyping me up before I jumped off the ledge. My phone almost over heated because he was so overzealous with the videos.

When we were done, instead of going off to their next customer, they chatted with me while I drank my coconut, telling me about how they are studying English, photography, and other skills for the lagoon. And then they escorted me to my bicycle.

Never once did they ask for money or give off desperate vibes about. Because this was special experience, I gave them all of the cash I had with me, which still didn't feel like enough.

The lagoon was cool, but meeting these kids and feeling so welcomed, accepted, and cared for was the most special part of the experience ☀️
